Would it work if I throw the dried fruits, nuts, seasoning, etc., into the thermos along with the grain when cooking cereals overnight?

Absolutely. You might want to add a bit more liquid, just depending on how much dried fruit you put in since it will rehydrate the fruit and take some of the water.

Adding cinnamon and maple syrup is fine while cooking the oats, but add the salt just before eating. Is that right?
Thank you for your informative website.

I tried this the other night. It worked great, but the food was stone cold. I heated the thermos before hand and added boiling water to the oats afterwards. I thought it would be at least warm the next morning, but I guess not. That was disappointing. I used a small stainless steal Thermos brand container. Do you have any advice?
